What are cookies and browser storage?

Cookies are small files that a website saves in your browser and may send back to the website with later requests. Local storage saves information in your browser too, but is not automatically sent with each request. Both are specific to the browser and device you use.

What we use

WordPress sign-in and settings

When you sign in to WordPress, cookies support authentication, account security and administration preferences. These may include cookies whose names begin with wordpress_, wordpress_logged_in_ or wp-settings-, and wordpress_test_cookie. Their duration depends on the cookie and your sign-in choices. These account features are separate from simply reading our articles.

Your comparison shortlist

When you select products to compare, we save their product IDs in local storage under a key beginning with itechvora.compare.v1:. This keeps your shortlist available as you move between pages. Opening the comparison page or using Clear all empties the saved shortlist. Otherwise it remains until you clear it or your browser removes the website data. It does not store your name, email address or social-media account details.

This cookie notice

Choosing Got it saves a notice acknowledgement in local storage under a key beginning with itechvora.cookie-notice.v1:. It records the notice version and the time you acknowledged it. We remember that acknowledgement for 180 days, after which the notice is shown again on a visit. Clearing site data, using another browser or a private browsing session can also cause the notice to reappear. This acknowledgement is not permission for advertising or analytics tracking.

Analytics and advertising

The current iTechVora setup does not load analytics or advertising trackers. If we introduce optional tracking in the future, we will update this policy and provide appropriate choices before enabling it. This notice does not automatically control scripts that may be added later.

Social sharing and external websites

Our social sharing buttons are links, not embedded social-media tracking widgets. Selecting one opens the chosen service with the article link and, where supported, its title. That service, or a retailer you visit through an external link, may use its own cookies under its own privacy and cookie policies. Device-native sharing is handled by your browser or operating system.

Your controls

You can reopen our notice using Cookie notice in the footer. Use your browser’s privacy or site-data settings to inspect, block or delete cookies and local storage for this website. Removing or blocking this storage may sign you out, reset the notice acknowledgement or prevent comparison selections from being remembered between pages. Reading articles and using the comparison page’s form remain available without a saved shortlist.

We will revise this page when the website’s use of cookies or similar storage changes. The date below shows when this policy was last updated.
