This policy explains how iTechVora handles information when you read our website, contact us or contribute to our technology coverage.

Who is responsible

iTechVora is the consumer-technology publication created by Anil Kumar. For privacy questions or requests concerning information handled by iTechVora, email itechvora@gmail.com with the subject Privacy enquiry. You can also find enquiry guidance on our Contact page.

Information involved in using the website

Visiting and searching

Your browser sends technical information needed to request a page, such as your IP address, browser information, requested URL and time of access. Web-server and security logs may record this information, the referring page and errors to support delivery, troubleshooting and protection against abuse. Search terms entered on the site appear in the requested URL and may therefore appear in these logs. Avoid entering private or sensitive information into site search.

The current site does not include analytics or advertising trackers, an email newsletter signup or a checkout. Optional reader registration is available; reading articles does not require an account.

Email and contributions

If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message and its attachments. We use this information to consider and respond to your enquiry, investigate corrections, review pitches or manage an agreed contribution. Our published contact address uses Gmail, so Google also processes messages as the email service provider under its own terms and privacy practices.

Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. Do not send passwords, payment information, identity documents or unnecessary sensitive information. If your message includes someone else’s personal information, share only what is relevant and what you are entitled to provide.

Reader, author and administrative accounts

Reader signup collects a display name, username and email address and sends an email link to set a password. Reader accounts have Subscriber permissions, not publishing or administrative access. We record the signup time and the version of the terms acknowledged. Sign-in uses WordPress authentication cookies; choosing to stay signed in extends the session. Password-recovery emails contain time-limited links. We temporarily count account-form attempts using a keyed hash of the connection IP address to limit abuse; these counters expire after 15 minutes of inactivity. Registration does not subscribe you to marketing.

WordPress stores information associated with authorised accounts, such as names, email addresses, password hashes, roles and profile details. Public author pages show the display name, biography, portrait and website/social links selected for publication. Account email addresses are not published by the author-profile feature. Public author information and contributions can be indexed by search engines when indexing is enabled.

Comments, where available

If a page offers a comment form, submitting it provides the displayed fields and may record an IP address and browser information for moderation and abuse prevention. The approved comment and chosen public name may be visible to other readers. An email address supplied for a comment is not intended for public display. Any option to remember comment details applies only if that form is available and you choose it.

Cookies and browser storage

WordPress uses cookies for sign-in and account settings. Our notice uses local storage to remember its acknowledgement for 180 days. USD is the default currency and the current frontend does not save a currency preference or a comparison shortlist. External services and links

Retailer links, source citations and social-sharing links take you to services with their own privacy practices. Social-sharing buttons are links rather than embedded social-media widgets; selecting one sends the article information to the chosen service. We do not control information you provide to those services.

Author portraits can be stored locally. Where WordPress falls back to Gravatar for an avatar, it can use a hash derived from an account or comment email address to request the image, and the image service receives normal connection information. If an article includes externally embedded content, loading it can also send connection information to that provider and allow its cookies or tracking, particularly if you are signed in there.

Why we use information and who may receive it

We use information to deliver and secure the website, respond to correspondence, manage editorial work and accounts, correct errors and meet applicable legal obligations. Where applicable data-protection law requires a lawful basis, these activities may rely on legitimate interests in running a secure editorial publication and handling enquiries, steps toward or performance of an agreed contribution, legal obligations, or consent for an optional activity. Consent can be withdrawn for future processing where it is the basis used.

Information may be handled by service providers supporting website hosting, email, security and maintenance, by people authorised to manage the publication, or where disclosure is required by law or necessary to address abuse or protect rights. We do not sell reader information or use the current website for behavioural advertising.

Online service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their locations and arrangements depend on the service. Contact us if you need information about a particular service or processing activity.

How long information is kept

Retention depends on the purpose: correspondence may be needed while an enquiry, correction or contribution is being handled and for related follow-up; account records are needed while access is authorised; published author details and contributions form part of the editorial record. Technical logs and backups depend on the hosting and security arrangements. Legal requirements, disputes and abuse investigations can require longer retention.

We do not promise one deletion period for all these records. You can ask about a specific record or request deletion using the contact address above. Removing a record from the active site may not immediately remove backup copies or copies independently held by search engines and other websites. The cookie-notice acknowledgement is treated as valid for 180 days; browser storage itself remains until removed or replaced.

Your choices and requests

You can browse without creating an account, limit what you send by email, and clear or restrict cookies and local storage using browser settings. Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of personal information, obtain a portable copy, or withdraw consent. These rights can have exceptions, including for legal obligations and legitimate editorial records.

Email itechvora@gmail.com to make a request. Describe the information or activity involved; we may need proportionate information to verify that we are dealing with the correct person. Do not send identity documents unless an appropriate verification method has been agreed. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

Security and children

No website or email system can guarantee absolute security. Please report suspected exposure of personal information privately through our contact email. iTechVora is a general-audience technology publication and does not intentionally seek personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us personal information can contact us to request a review and appropriate removal.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change, including if optional tracking or new submission features are introduced. An acknowledgement of our cookie notice is not consent to future advertising or analytics.
